You can use for most of the ceiling fans a remote control or a wall mount control.

For the installation of the remote control you only need 3-wires to control fan and light separately.

If you like to control fan and light seperately with a wall control you need a 5-wiring.

To change the direction of your fan you normally have a switch at the motor housing.

Exceptions : Alchemy ( Hunter ), Centaurus, Treventi, Volare ( Fanimation ) - these models come with a remote control which controls also the reverse function.
